Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir government today approved the establishment of the Lieutenant Governor’s Sainik Sahayta Kendra (LGSSK), a dedicated cell for soldiers’ assistance and liaison to provide timely redressal of grievances faced by soldiers from J&K serving across India.

According to the Government order, a copy of which lies with Kashmir Images, the Kendra will function as a single-window platform to receive, assess, and process grievances submitted by serving soldiers or their authorised representatives.

While responding to the grievances, the Kendra will facilitate direct appointments between soldiers and relevant civil or police officers in their home districts, follow up on unresolved matters, and ensure quick redressal. A performance dashboard will be maintained for real-time monitoring, and quarterly reports will be submitted to the Lieutenant Governor’s office, reads the order.

The estates department has been asked to provide to the Kendra at Srinagar and Jammu secretariate and once it is done, the Kendra will start operating immediately. The Information Technology Department has been tasked to deploy two officials proficient in data handling and case monitoring, along with necessary computer systems and hardware, the order reads.

In a separate Government Order, the government nominated the following officers for the operationalization of the Kendra, in addition to their existing responsibilities.

Prasanna Ramaswamy G, IAS, Secretary to Government, Tribal Affairs Department. Aflaq Ahmad, JKAS, Under Secretary to Government, Revenue Department and Abhimanyu Singh, JKAS, Manager-cum-Protocol Officer, Resident Commission, New Delhi, reads another order.

Order directed for all concerned departments and stakeholders to implement them with immediate effect.

The establishment of the LG’s Sainik Sahayta Kendra reaffirms the UT administration’s commitment to upholding the welfare and dignity of serving soldiers by ensuring timely and structured redressal of their civilian concerns through an institutional platform, an official spokesman said.
