7 drug peddlers held across valley

Srinagar: Police have arrested seven drug peddlers including a woman across Kashmir valley, a police spokesperson informed Thursday.

He said two persons — Faizan Bukhari, son of Bashir Ahmad Bukhari of Wani Mohalla Kreeri, and a woman, resident of Peer Mohalla Kreeri – were arrested at Chek Tappar Kreeri, after search of a vehicle (DL5CN-7586) yielded 78 grams and 55 grams of cannabis-like substance and 125 strips and 30 strips of Tapentadol HCL.

Mohammad Ashraf Kumar, son of Mohammad Subhan Kumar of Braman Rohama, was arrested after 250 grams of poppy straw-like substance was recovered from his truck (JK05A-2377) at Tapper.

Police raided a bakery shop “Royal Star” at Narbal chowk and recovered four sticks of cannabis-like substance wrapped in corn husk (124 grams) from the shop. The accused identified as Manzoor Ahmad Sheikh and Fayaz Ahmad Sheikh, both sons of Mohammad Ashraf Sheikh, residents of Sheikh Mohalla Sultanpora Kandi Baramulla, were arrested on the spot.

Two alleged drug consumers — Faisal Manzoor Reshi, son of Manzoor Ahmad Reshi of Herpora Awantipora and Mudakir Hussain, son of Mumtaz Ali, resident of Lehra Kalimusta Gool Ramban – were arrested in Awantipora.

Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations for further investigations.
