Dr. Tahir Mufti was a Visionary Administrator, pioneering reformer, and a devoted advocate of traditional Indian medicine.

He is remembered for his historic contribution in structurally and administratively segregating the Indian Systems of Medicine (now Ayush) from the Directorate of Health Services, thereby establishing it as an independent Directorate.

His visionary step laid the institutional foundation for focused policy formulation, service delivery, and development of Ayurveda, Unani, Yoga, and other indigenous systems in the region.

Under his able leadership, the groundwork was laid for a robust Ayush infrastructure that today serves lakhs of people across J&K through a wide network of Ayush Health and Wellness centres, educational institutions, dispensaries, and Research initiatives.

His legacy continues to guide the functioning and vision of the Directorate of Ayush, J&K.

Dr. Mufti was widely respected for his knowledge, foresight, and tireless commitment to the upliftment of public health through holistic and traditional systems of healing. He was a mentor to many, and his pioneering contributions will always be remembered with deep respect and gratitude.

The Directorate of Ayush, J&K joins the wider Medical and Administrative community in mourning this great loss. Officers and officials of the Directorate extend their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and pray for their strength in this time of grief.
