Srinagar: Police on Tuesday registered a case against a man for using a fake identity card to gain access to the Amarnath Yatra in Ganderbal district.
The man has been identified as Shivam Mittal, son of Krishan Mittal, resident of Dwarka Puri, Jagadhri, District Yamunanagar, Haryana.
“J&K Police have apprehended an individual at Baltal for using a fake yatra registration card to deceitfully gain access through security checkpoints,” a police spokesman said.
“The individual had procured the forged yatra card through fraudulent means and attempted to mislead security personnel, thereby unlawfully bypassing the mandatory security verification process,” the spokesman said.
An FIR has been registered in this regard and investigation launched by police.
Police are committed to maintaining the integrity and safety of the Yatra, police spokesperson said, adding that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found indulging in any unlawful acts.
