SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Power Transmission Corporation Limited (JKPTCL), Kashmir, has announced an extended power shutdown to facilitate critical transmission infrastructure works and essential equipment maintenance across several areas of Srinagar and its outskirts.

As per the communication from the Chief Engineer, JKPTCL Kashmir, both circuits of the 132 kV BRTL (Bemina–Rawalpora Transmission Line)—Circuit-I and Circuit-II—will remain non-operational from 6:00 AM on July 2, 2025, to 6:00 PM on July 26, 2025. The shutdown has been necessitated to carry out dismantling and de-stringing of conductors, along with erection work between tower locations 24 to 26 under the transmission augmentation project being undertaken by JKPTCL.

Due to this extended outage, a temporary disruption in power supply will impact multiple localities, including Silk Factory, Allochibagh, Rambagh, Tulsibagh, Peerbagh, Humhama, Humhama Heights, Friends Colony, Hyderpora, Rangreth, Alamdar Colony, Milatabad, Hill View Colony, Gogo, Wanbal, and their adjoining areas. The affected regions will experience a power shutdown from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM on July 2, 2025.

Additionally, a separate power interruption is scheduled on July 5, 2025, from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM for preventive maintenance at the 33 kV Indoor Breakers of 140 MVA, 132/33 kV Grid Substation Rawalpora. The operation is intended to clear dust accumulation in breakers and bus bars, a precautionary measure in response to prevailing hot, humid, and dusty weather conditions that pose risk to grid reliability and equipment longevity.

During this maintenance window, power supply will remain suspended in Rawalpora, Sanat Nagar, Industrial Estate Sanat Nagar, Hyderpora, Majeed Bagh, Chanapora, Baghi Mehtab, Bone & Joint Hospital area, Rangreth, Air Force Station, Peerbagh, Humhama, and Silk Factory, among other adjoining zones.

The JKPTCL has advised the public to take necessary precautions and cooperate during this period of essential technical intervention, which is aimed at strengthening the region’s power transmission infrastructure and ensuring long-term supply stability.
