MLA Lolab reviews development profile of Machill block

Directs early resolution of public issues

KUPWARA: Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Lolab, Qaysar Jamshaid Lone, after conducting a four-day detailed tour of far-flung border block Machill of Lolab Assembly Constituency today chaired a joint meeting of district and block level officers at Tehsil Headquarters Machill to review the progress and achievements of different departments, besides resolving the projected issues of the people.

The meeting was attended by ADC Kupwara, Gulzar Ahmad; ACD, CMO, CEO, CAO, CAHO, CHO, DSHO; Executive Engineers of KPDCL, STD, R&B, I&FC, PHE; AD Food, BDO, Tehsildar, BMO, besides representatives and officials from various departments were also present.

Addressing the meeting, MLA Lolab said that the objective of visiting this far-flung Machill block was to ease the sufferings of the people by addressing their day-to-day developmental issues and grievances.

He said that the Government is committed to the upliftment and development of all far-flung border areas like Machill. He enjoined upon all the officers to work with added zeal and commitment to ensure that the basic amenities are delivered to the people at their doorsteps in a proactive approach, given the challenging topography of this area.

MLA took a detailed review of the functioning of all the departments in the Machill block.

Reviewing the School Education department, the chair was informed that 32 schools are functional in the Machill block, out of which 10 are housed in rented buildings. MLA said that the construction of buildings has been approved for the area and directed the Tehsildar Machill to facilitate making the land available for the construction of these buildings.

Regarding food, it was informed that sufficient stock of ration and essential commodities are available in the block. MLA directed the AD Food to ensure Aadhaar mapping of all the beneficiaries so that they can get the ration supply with ease.

Regarding KPDCL, MLA directed the Ex. Engineer to ensure transformers are allotted and installed in the needed villages which include Dar Mohallah Machill, Wani Mohallah-A, Akhoon Mohallah Pushwari, Mal Mohallah Pushwari and Khan Basti Reng.

Reviewing the Rural Development, MLA enjoined the concerned officers to speed up the execution of works in Machill block so that people can earn their livelihood, which is the fundamental objective of the MGNREGA scheme.

MLA also reviewed the health department and was informed about the dearth of both doctors and paramedical staff in the area. He assured of taking up the matter at a higher level to resolve the issue.

Regarding R&B, it was informed that 5 projects out of 17 allotted projects have been completed, and work is apace on the rest of the projects. MLA directed the concerned for complete all ongoing road projects and buildings before the onset of the winter season.

Reviewing PHE, MLA directed the concerned to coverage of all the left-out areas under the JJM scheme.

Progress and achievements of other sectors were also reviewed, which include Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Fisheries and others.

Later, MLA flagged off the Vaccination Express vehicle for conducting free of cost FMD vaccination under Round-6 of NADCP, covering 100 percent bovine population at farmers’ doorsteps. Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Kupwara, Dr. Shabir Ahmad, was present on the occasion.

Lone also distributed 4 Artificial Insemination kits to MAITRI’s under Rashtriya Gokul Mission. Besides, Tablets and GPS enabled Weighing Balances were issued to Poshu Saki’s for ration balancing and milk recording under HADP. Animal Husbandry Kissan Credit Cards were also distributed among the dairy farmers. For augmenting fodder production in the area, Hybrid Seed Kits were distributed among livestock farmers under HADP.
