‘Special Railway Salary Package’: 1 crore insurance amount paid to family of deceased railway employee

New Delhi: Northern Railway, under the leadership of General Manager, Ashok Kumar Verma, had approved a special salary package scheme in January 2025 to provide special security cover to its railway employees under which financial assistance can be provided to the family members in case of accidental death of the employee in an accident.

Under this special salary package, the General Manager of Northern Railway, Ashok Kumar Verma, handed over a cheque of ₹1 crore to the family of a deceased railway employee today. This cheque was given to the family of Sushil Lal, a loco pilot working in Moradabad Division of Northern Railway, who passed away on 11 March 2025 in an accident. The insurance amount was paid to his wife. The family was provided a cheque of ₹1 crore as accident insurance amount in addition to the settlement payment, ex gratia amount by the Personnel Department of the Railways.

General Manager of Northern Railway, Ashok Kumar Verma, appreciated this initiative of the Personnel Department of Railways. He emphasized that such initiatives will contribute significantly to the welfare of railway employees and their families. Undoubtedly, life cannot be compensated for, but financial help for the future of the family will be of great help. This initiative reflects the commitment of the Railways towards the welfare of railway employees

Senior officers of Northern Railway were present on this occasion, who expressed their condolences to the bereaved family. Dr. Ajay Soyal, Senior Divisional Personnel Officer, Moradabad Divisio,n Northern Railway and Shri Himanshu Chauhan, Branch Manager, SBI Moradabad Branch, made commendable efforts in this case.

The Personnel Department of Northern Railway is always available for the welfare of its railway family colleagues, due to which the morale of the employees always remains positive.
