Srinagar: Police have arrested three drug peddlers in Budgam and Anantnag and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesperson informed Thursday.
He said one Ghulam Rasool Sheikh, son of Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh, of Wadipora, Chadoora was arrested after approximately 16.05 kg of wet green poppy straw-like substance was recovered from his possession.
At Churmujroo village, one Sarwar Ahmad Tantray, son of Abdul Majeed Tantray, resident of Churmujroo was arrested and 5.66 kg of grinded poppy straw-like substance and a mobile phone was recovered from him.
In Anantnag, at Sharief Din Mohalla near Police Station Achabal, a searches inside a truck (JK03F-5011) driven by Bilal Ahmad Mir, son of Abdul Rashid Mir of Rain Arther Larnoo, yielded 8 grams of brown sugar-like substance following which the trucker Mir was arrested and vehicle seized.
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations.
