Two properties attached in Handwara

Srinagar: Police in Handwara have attached properties worth lakhs belonging to two “notorious drug peddlers” under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, a police spokesperson informed Wednesday.

He said a plot of land with raised plinth owned by Fayaz Ahmad Bhat, son of Late Abdul Ahad Bhat of Jandipora Maratgam, was attached under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act in connection with case FIR No. 47/2024 U/S 8/21 NDPS Act, registered at Police Station Qalamabad.

Separately, two commercial shops along with the land situated at Main Market Handwara, belonging to Javaid Ahmad Sofi, son of Abdul Razaq Sofi of Khunbal Handwara, was also attached under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act.

Police said preliminary investigation revealed that these properties were acquired through “illicit proceeds generated from drug trafficking activities”.
