DC Srinagar holds consultation with Shia leaders regarding Muharram arrangements, peaceful conduct of processions

SRINAGAR: In connection with upcoming holy month of Muharram-ul-Haram, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat Wednesday held a consultative meeting with prominent Shia leaders in order to seek suggestions from the stakeholders for ensuring better facilities to people and smooth conduct of processions.

Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mir Imtiyaz Ul Aziz, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Aadil Fareed, SDM East Zubair Ahmad were present on the occasion.

While representatives of prominent Shia Associations including Yaadgar-i-Hussaini Committee, Anjuman-e-Sharie Shiayan, Yousuf Abad Budgam, All J&K Shai Association, Anjuman-e-Sharie Shiayan, Darul Mustafa Budgam were also part of the meeting.

On the occasion, DC said the purpose of holding interaction is to facilitate the people during the holy month of Muharrum by making all basic necessary arrangements by the district administration, besides sought suggestions from the stakeholders for ensuring smooth peaceful processions during the holy month.

DC also sought cooperation from all the Shia Associations and other stakeholders in ensuring smooth conduct of Muharram processions and other religious gatherings in the best interest of all people.

While responding to the suggestions and issues put forth by the representatives of Shia leaders, DC assured them that all their genuine demands will be looked into on priority.

With regard to arrangements like electricity & water supplies, repairing of roads, sanitation measures, street lighting and first aid medical facilities, DC said that necessary instructions have already been given to all the concerned departments.
