On the occasion, Justice Sindhu Sharma applauded that though the Ladakh region is geographically vast and climatically harsh but the people of Ladakh are peace-loving, which is implied by less litigation in the region. Another reason for fewer litigations in the region is that the people of Ladakh prefer to solve their disputes amicably even today, she added.

Justice Sindhu Sharma also mentioned that with development in the region, litigation is also bound to increase, but litigants must resort to the ADR system of dispute resolution, Lok Adalat being one of them, as per past practice prevalent in the region.

A total of 06 Benches were constituted in the said National Lok Adalat in which Bank cases, recovery matters, Matrimonial cases, Criminal Compoundable cases, Civil cases and Labour disputes were taken up and disposed of. A total of 359 cases were taken up by the different benches, out of which 315 cases were disposed of and a total settlement amount worth Rs 85,58,020 was realized.
