Nasha Mukt Abhiyan: DIPR, DSEK organise cultural awareness prog

SRINAGAR: Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), in collaboration with the Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK), today organized a day-long awareness-cum-cultural program under the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan at Pandit Bhajan Sopori Auditorium, DIPR complex, Polo View, Srinagar.

The event aimed to sensitise and educate youth about the devastating effects of drug abuse, a growing concern in Jammu & Kashmir, through music, dance and theatre as mediums of communication.

Nitish Rajora, Director of Information and Public Relations, presided over the event. Among the dignitaries present were Joint Director Information Kashmir, Syed Shahnawaz Bukhari; Deputy Director PR Ahsan-ul-Haq Chishti; Cultural Officer Kashmir, Burhan Hussain, along with several other officers of DIPR.

The program featured vibrant cultural performances that captivated the audience and carried strong social messages.

Highlights included Kashmiri Rouf by Yemberzal Cultural Group, Thematic Dance performance by MJ Nasir and Group, a powerful short play by Tulkul Arts and Media Collective, theme-based folk music by Feroz Shah and Party, widely acclaimed by the audience.

A large number of students and teachers from DSEK participated enthusiastically, reflecting the collective concern over the rising drug menace.

In his address, Joint Director Information, Syed Shahnawaz Bukhari, emphasized the importance of disseminating the powerful messages conveyed through such cultural initiatives. He urged continued efforts in engaging youth across the valley.

Cultural Officer Kashmir, Burhan Hussai,n briefed the audience on DIPR’s ongoing initiatives and strategic efforts to combat drug addiction through impactful outreach.

Proceedings of the event were conducted by AECO, Syed Shakeel Shan, who called upon educational institutions to collaborate with DIPR in the fight against drug abuse.

The event also featured the screening of a short film on drug abuse, further reinforcing the message of awareness and action.
