Extended power shutdowns announced in Sgr for May 31 and June 1

SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has announced scheduled power shutdowns across multiple areas of Srinagar and Budgam to facilitate infrastructure works and preventive maintenance.

The shutdowns, planned for May 31 and June 1, 2025, are expected to impact electricity supply in several key localities.

May 31 Shutdown: Budgam SIDCO Tap Line

According to the Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL, a shutdown of the 33 kV Budgam SIDCO Tap Line will be observed on May 31 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM to allow for the erection of 13-meter-long ST poles as part of the power augmentation for the upcoming 2×1.6 MVA substation at ESIC Hospital, opposite NIFT Ompora.

Due to this shutdown, power supply from the 33/11 kV Receiving Stations at SIDCO and Budgam Railway Station will remain suspended. The affected areas will include Ompora, SIDCO, NIFT, Housing Colony, and adjoining localities.

June 1 Shutdowns: Extensive Maintenance in Srinagar

A separate schedule released by KPDCL outlines multiple power cuts on June 1 across Srinagar city for preventive maintenance, line stabilization, and vegetation clearance along the power corridors. The following 33 kV feeders will be shut down from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, impacting the respective areas:

Bemina KP Bagh Line

Affected Receiving Station: Rakhi Arth

Areas Impacted: Rakhi Arth, Hamdania Colony, Sabdan, and adjoining areas.

Bemina Exhibition Line

Affected Receiving Stations: GIS Batamaloo, Tengpora, Court Complex

Areas Impacted: Court Complex, Batamaloo, Bus Adda, Moominabad, Gund Rashi Colony B, Bemina, and nearby localities.

Bemina-I & Bemina-II Lines

Affected Receiving Stations: Bemina-I & Bemina-II

Areas Impacted: Hamdania Colony, HIG/MIG Colony, Nundresh Colony, Hamza Colony, Sir Syed Abad, Qamarwari, Chatabal, SK Colony, Tauheedabad, Bemina, Mandi, and Court Complex.

Bemina JVC Line

Affected Receiving Stations: JVC, PC Depot, SKIMS, Children Hospital

Areas Impacted: JVC Hospital, Children Hospital, State Motor Garage, Hajj House, Forensic Lab, Qamarwari, Baranpather.

Bemina–Karan Nagar Line

Affected Receiving Stations: Karan Nagar, Shalistore

Areas Impacted: Chatabal, Balgarden, Zaldagar, Police Lines, Civil Secretariat, SMHS Hospital, Gole Market, Guru Bazar, Tankipora, Shaheed Gunj.

Bemina–Barbarshah & Bemina–Fatehkadal Lines

Affected Receiving Stations: Fateh Kadal, Khayam, Barbarshah, Basant Bagh

Areas Impacted: Fateh Kadal, Khayam, Barbarshah, Basant Bagh and adjoining neighborhoods.

KPDCL has urged residents and commercial establishments in the affected areas to make necessary arrangements and bear with the inconvenience, assuring that these works are crucial for improving the reliability and efficiency of the power supply system.
