3 drug peddlers held in Pulwama; 2 consumers in Awantipora

Srinagar: Police have arrested three drug peddlers in Pulwama and recovered contraband substances from their possession. Police have also arrested two drug consumers in Awantipora, a police spokesperson informed Wednesday.

At Achgoza in Pulwama, checking of a car (JK05H-0877) with two persons on board yielded approximately 5.7 kgs of poppy straw and cash amount of Rs 14,200. Subsequently both persons — Zahoor Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Gani Dar, and the co-passenger identified as Rayees Ahmad Gooru son of Bashir Ahmad Gooru, both residents of Gath Takun, Awantipora were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain custody.

At Putrigam, another car (JK13A-8461) was stopped for checking and 10.06 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from the possession of its driver Amir Ahmed Wani, son of Abdul Samad Wani of Dadora, Pulwama. He too was arrested and the car seized.

In Awantipora, at Dangerpora-Padgampora Crossing, two alleged drug consumers identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Gani Bhat of Awantipora, and Rehan Fayaz Mir, son of Fayaz Ahmad Mir of Iqbal Colony Awantipora, were held and shifted to drug de addiction/rehabilitation centre Tral where the test of both the persons was conducted and the report revealed positive.

Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigations have been initiated.
