  Power shutdowns announced in multiple areas across Kashmir

SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has announced scheduled power shutdowns across several regions of Kashmir to carry out urgent repair and maintenance works.

These shutdowns, according to the Chief Engineer, Distribution, are necessary due to recent damage caused by heavy windstorms and to facilitate infrastructure upgrades ahead of the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY) 2025.

According to the Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL, in order to carry out urgent repair works on 33 KV Safakadal line necessitated damages caused due to the heavy wind storm during the intervening night of 18th and 19th, 2025, shutdown of 33KV Safakadal line shall be observed due to which 33/11KV Receiving Stations at Safakadal & Wanganpora shall remain off while power supply to Safakadal, Wanganpora, Saidpora, Noorbagh, Chaidoab, Baghwanpora, Eidgah and adjoining areas besides BB Cant Tap Line will be affected from 10:00 AM to 04:00 PM on 21 May, 2025.

Similarly, to carry out Branch cutting works, the shutdown of 33KV Delina line shall be observed, due to which 33/11KV Receiving Stations at Delina, Jetty & Sopore-II shall remain off while power supply to Delina, Jetty, Kralhar, Sopore, Kanispora, Singhpora, BSF Singhpora, Migrant camp Khawaja Bagh, Railways Sopore-Baramulla, IE Sopore, Amargarh and adjoining areas will be affected from 09:30 AM to 03:30 PM on 22 May 2025.

Further to facilitate stabilisation of 33 KV Wanpoh Qazigund line and 33 KV Wanpoh Qaimoh line in view of upcoming SANJY-2025, the shutdown of 33 KV Wanpoh Qazigund line shall be observed, due to which 33/11 KV Receiving Stations at Mirbazar, Vessu, Qazigund, Kund, Railway Station shall remain off while power supply to Mirbazar, Vessu, Akhran, Razloo, Panzath, YK Pora and adjoining areas will be affected from 10:00 AM to 04:00 PM on 22, 24, 26, 28 & 31 May 2025.

Also in this connection, the shutdown of 33KV Wanpoh Qaimoh line shall be observed due to which 33/11KV Receiving Stations at Qaimoh, Redwani shall remain off while power supply to Qaimoh, Matalhama, Rahpora, Khudwani, Redwani and adjoining areas will be affected from 10:00 AM to 04:00 PM on 25 & 27 May, 2025.

Meanwhile as per a separate shutdown schedule issued from the office of Chief Engineer KPDCL, in order to facilitate the work of erection of 33 KV Tapline to 2×1.6 MVA, 33/0.433 KV Substation ESIC Hospital Ompora Budgam, the shutdown of 33KV Budgam SIDCO line shall be observed due to which 33/11KV Receiving Stations at SIDCO, Railway Station, Budgam shall remain off while power supply to Ompora, SIDCO, NIFT, Housing Colony and adjoining areas will be affected from 10:00 AM to 05:00 PM on 24 & 26 May, 2025.
