Bravehearts of the border must be accommodated: Karra

Jammu-Samba: A comprehensive tour of border villages in district Samba was carried out today by PCC President Tariq Ahmed Karra along with other senior leaders. Local residents of villages Nanga, Mangu Chak, Chasliana, and Benglad shared the grievances they have been facing, particularly following the heavy shelling by Pakistan last week.

The PCC President also visited the damaged bunkers at ground zero, where locals recounted their harrowing experiences. After holding detailed discussions with the affected residents, he expressed serious concern—not only about the deplorable condition of the bunkers but also about the unfulfilled government promises, such as recruitment rallies and the allocation of five marla plots at safer locations.

He sincerely appreciated the courage and resilience of the locals, who have been forced either to migrate or to spend relentless nights in damaged shelters. Karra demanded the organization of open recruitment rallies for border youth, as committed by Rajnath Singh years ago, and also called for compensation for the deceased and for livestock lost due to shelling.

“People are now reflecting on the stark difference between Modi’s regime and the previous Congress governments,” he added.

Working President Raman Bhalla also interacted with the locals and assured them of the full support of party workers and volunteers. He criticised the central government for failing to fulfil promises such as providing five marla plots and employment opportunities.

District President Sanjeev Sharma alleged that most bunkers in the border area are too damaged to be used. “On one hand, there is no electricity in the few bunkers that are barely functional during shelling; on the other, the government is charging exorbitant rates for domestic power,” he remarked.

AICC Secretary Neeraj Kundan and former Minister Yashpal Kundal also interacted with the people. Babal Gupta, Tirth Ram, Vinod Kumar, Subash Singh, Jagdeep Singh, and others also participated in the tour.
