Pakistan Shelling Injures Four Civilians, Destroys Houses in Uri

URI : At least four civilians were injured and multiple houses were damaged after Pakistani forces resorted to heavy shelling in the Uri sector during the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday, officials and locals said.

The overnight bombardment targeted civilian areas, destroying at least three houses and damaging several vehicles. The injured, including Talib Hussain and his wife, were rushed to Sub District Hospital Uri for treatment. The identities of the two other injured civilians including a handicap female Mehak Younis and Bedder Din.

“The shelling was intense, forcing many families to flee to safer locations,” a local told Kashmir Images. “Among the destroyed houses are those of Talib Hussain and former Director of Health Services, Dr. Bashir Ahmad Chakoo.”

The Indian Army said it responded to the ceasefire violation in a “proportionate manner.” Cross-border firing along the Line of Control (LoC) remains a persistent issue, with both sides frequently trading blame for initiating hostilities.
