SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) has announced a scheduled power shutdown in various areas of South Kashmir to facilitate critical maintenance work at the 475 MVA, 220/132 KV Grid Substation Mirbazar. The work, being undertaken by Jammu and Kashmir Power Transmission Corporation Limited (JKPTCL), is part of the preparatory measures for the smooth conduct of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2025.

According to the Chief Engineer, KPDCL, the maintenance involves servicing of the main and reserve bus bars and rectification of DC circuit malfunctioning in the protection system. As a result, shutdowns have been proposed on several transmission lines during May, which will lead to temporary disruptions in the electricity supply across multiple regions.
