Special enforcement drive conducted across Jammu city

JAMMU: A special enforcement drive was carried out today across Jammu City, from South to North, under the supervision of Regional Transport Officer Jammu, Jasmeet Singh. The drive aimed to curb overcharging, overloading and ensure compliance regarding e-rickshaw driving licenses and other mandatory vehicle documents.

During the drive, as many as 750 vehicles were inspected. A total of 87 vehicles were e-challaned and 56 vehicles were seized for various violations under the Motor Vehicles Act and the rules framed thereunder. Fines amounting to ₹3,46,200 were imposed on the violators.

In addition to enforcement activities, awareness sessions were conducted at multiple locations for drivers and passengers to sensitise them about road safety regulations and provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act. Special instructions were also issued to e-rickshaw operators regarding adherence to their designated areas of operation.

The enforcement drive was led by ARTO FS Er. Bipen Singh Charak and ARTO Mohd Salim Manhas, along with MVI Er. C. S. Billowria, SMVI Amanish Sharma and MVTA Taranjot Singh.
