KUPWARA: In a concerted effort to combat drug abuse and educate the youth about its detrimental effects, the third phase of comprehensive IEC (Information, Education, and Communication) campaign was conducted across 20 educational institutions in different zones of Kupwara district.

The initiative, held on the directions of the District Administration Kupwara, aimed to sensitise students about the harmful consequences of drug use and empower them to make healthy lifestyle choices.

As part of this campaign, expert resource persons from various fields, including health, education, law enforcement, RDD, social welfare and social workers, visited schools and delivered impactful lectures to the students.

These sessions covered a wide range of topics such as the physical, psychological and social impacts of drug abuse, the importance of mental well-being and peer pressure management, besides legal ramifications of drug-related offenses.

The campaign witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, and school administrators. Interactive sessions, question-and-answer rounds, and real-life testimonials added a practical and relatable dimension to the lectures, fostering a better understanding among the students.

The IEC campaign marks a significant step towards nurturing a healthier and more informed younger generation.

It is worth mentioning that the District Administration plans to continue such awareness drives in collaboration with the education department in order to make this campaign result-oriented.
