SRINAGAR: Director Agriculture Kashmir, Mohammad Ilyas Khateeb, today visited Ganderbal and reviewed overall agriculture scenario in the district in a meeting with the concerned officers.
During the visit, he also inaugurated a Hi-tech poly house (under HADP 2024-25) at Gujjar Patti, Prang Wussan, a farm machinery bank and a Village soil testing laboratory.
Speaking to the farmers of different areas, the Director of Agriculture said that the department is working on an ambitious plan to provide farmers with round-the-year availability of seedlings of different vegetable crops. He said to achieve this goal department has already established hi-tech powerhouses in all the districts of the Kashmir division.
He said the Farm machinery bank would help concerned farmers in performing their farm mechanical activities easily and timely. He further said the village soil testing laboratory would be very helpful to the farmers of the area in ensuring the optimal use of fertilisers, insecticides and pesticides.
The Director of Agriculture highlighted the importance of integrated farming and asked the farmers to diversify their agricultural operations.
The Director asked the concerned officers to guide the farmers during their preparation of paddy nurseries and during the pre and post-harvest operations of the oilseed (Mustard) crop.
He asked the farmers that the department would provide all the technical assistance to them in comprehensively performing their agricultural activities.
Later, the Director of Agriculture visited some seed village areas. He held interactions with the concerned farmers and took feedback from them. He also appreciated their role in the agriculture sector.
The Director was accompanied by the Joint Director of Agriculture Extension, the Chief Agriculture Officer of Ganderbal and other officers of the department.
