Srinagar: Police on Thursday said it has arrested eight drug peddlers across Kashmir.
Sharing details, a police spokesperson informed that at Shalbaf Mohalla, two persons — Khalid Nazir Chelu, son of Nazir Ahmad of Umer Colony B Lal Bazar, and Umer Mushtaq Bhat, son of Mushtaq Ahmed of Dar Mohalla Awanta Bhawan Soura, were arrested and “substantial quantity of cannabis powder” was recovered from their possession. The motorcycle they were riding was also seized.
At Wanihama Link Road, Kauser Mehdi Teli, son of Mohammad Ayoob Teli of Merakshah Colony, and Sahil Ahmad Shaikh, son of Sanaullah Shaikh of Batpora Hazratbal were arrested and their load-carrier (JK01BA-0654) seized after cannabis-like substance was recovered from then.
At Neharpora Sopore, one Jahangir Ahmad Shah, son of Mohammad Yousuf Shah of Neharpora was arrested and his car (JK05M-4294) seized after 300 tablets of Alpradex 0.5 and cash of ₹22,550 was recovered from his possession.
Near Batpora Crossing, one Asif Ahmad Sheikh, son of Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh of Shahabad Sopore. Was arrested after two sticks of contraband cannabis-like substance was recovered from his possession.
In Kupwara, in Bunpora area, one Fayaz Ahmad Wani, son of Abdul Rashid Wani of Lolab was arrested after cannabis-like substance was recovered from him.
One Tariq Ahmad Teeli, son of Ali Mohammad Teeli of Danak Mohallah Khrew was arrested at Khrew after 54 grams of cannabis was recovered from his possession.
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations for further investigations.
