Srinagar: A man was killed in a scuffle between two parties over the installation of an electric transformer in the Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Tuesday evening.

An official told the news agency JKNS that a dispute over the installation of an electric transformer in Dohama village of Vilgam, Handwara, turned tragic when a scuffle between two parties led to the death of one individual.

He was identified as Khazir Mohd. Malik, son of Sunaullah Malik, a resident of Dahama, Handwara.

The body is currently in the hospital mortuary and will be handed over to the family after the completion of necessary medico-legal formalities, the official said.

Police have registered an FIR and initiated proceedings under relevant sections of the law, he added.

Further investigation is underway. (JKNS)
