Arrangements for Baisakhi festival finalized in Srinagar

SRINAGAR: In order to review the arrangements for the ensuing Baisakhi festival being celebrated on April 13, Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Srinagar, Rifat Aftab Qureshi, Monday chaired a meeting of Officers and members of the Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee here.

On the occasion, the ADDC took a detailed assessment of the preparations and arrangements being put in place by the line departments and Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee for smooth and seamless celebrations of the festival in Srinagar District.

The ADDC stressed on ensuring better arrangements well in advance with regard to safe drinking water, uninterrupted power supply, first-aid, sanitation measures, transport and parking facilities and other related arrangements.

She also asked the concerned Departments to ensure proper sanitation and immediate repair of defunct lights in and around the Gurdwara Chatti Padshahi, Baghat Barzulla and other prominent Gurudwaras in the City.

The ADDC laid emphasis on adequate arrangements of fire-fighting measures, particularly near the Gurudwara Langar on the occasion. She instructed the concerned to make adequate transport and parking facilities on the occasion, so that devotees may not face any inconvenience while traveling to or from Gurdwara Chatti Padshahi.

Earlier, members of the Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee put forth the demands for smooth and hassle-free celebrations of the festival.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Mir Imtiyaz Ul Aziz; Superintendent of Police, Showkat Ahmad; Joint Commissioner SMC, Syed Abul Qasim; Chief Planning officer, Fayaz Ahmad Dar; Assistant Commissioner Revenue, SDM West, Tehsildar South, Tehsildar Khanyar, Executive Engineers of PHE & PDD, AC Food Safety, ARTO, AD FCS&CA, Officers of Health, Traffic, Legal Metrology and other Departments, besides President and members of Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee.
