“Prominent places like Eidgah and Dargah are the spaces we have specially cleaned and prepared for the Eid prayers. But we are a small department, the decision on where the prayer will happen and where not—lies with the administration,” she said when asked if the Eid prayers will be held in Srinagar’s Eidgah grounds.

Meanwhile, the Waqf Board today announced a hike in the salaries of Imams, Khateebs, and other employees of the Board.

According to an order, news agency KNO reported, a hike of 20 percent on last drawn pay has been announced for Imams for five-time prayers and Friday Khateebs in Jammu and Kashmir.

The order has been issued after the approval by the Chairperson Waqf Board. As per the order, the revised salaries for skilled employees is Rs 18,000, while semi-skilled and unskilled will get Rs 16,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively.

The revised Fixed Traveling Allowance (FTA) for Junior Engineers is enhanced from Rs 500 to Rs 3500, and for Supervisors from Rs 300 to Rs 2500.

The revised salary, wages, and honorarium shall take effect from March 01, 2025, KNO reported.
