Srinagar: The government must release all pending wages of daily wagers, Anganwadi workers, contingent-paid employees, and contractor bills before Eid-ul-Fitr, said CPI(M) leader and MLA Kulgam, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami.

Tarigami said the delay in releasing payments, including pensions, gratuities, salaries, and other dues, has caused severe financial distress to employees and workers across various sectors.

“For over six months, government employees, including daily wagers, temporary staff, Anganwadi workers, Aya workers, coxswains, and contingent-paid employees, have been struggling due to non-payment of their wages,” he said.

With Eid-ul-Fitr approaching, Tarigami said it is crucial that these payments are cleared so that employees and workers can celebrate the festival with dignity and without financial hardship.

He also urged the government to immediately clear pending bills for contractors who have completed their work but have yet to receive their rightful payments.

“Any further delay in disbursing these dues will only worsen the crisis for thousands of families relying on these earnings. The authorities must act without delay and release the payments at the earliest,” he added.
