Jammu: As per the directions of JKPCC Chief Tariq Hameed Karra, the Congress party on Saturday organized a massive protest march from Punjtirthi to Parade Chowk in the city against terrorism and Pakistan.
The protesters also burned an effigy of Home Minister Amit Shah, holding him responsible for the failure to curb rising terrorism in the Jammu region.
The protest also demanded the immediate restoration of statehood for Jammu and Kashmir. Following the march, protesters raised slogans against Pakistan to express their anger over its alleged role in fostering unrest in the region.
Working Presidents PCC Tara Chand (Ex-Deputy CM) and Raman Bhalla, former Minister Yogesh Sawhney, DCC President Jammu (U) Manmohan Singh, AICC Secretary Neeraj Kundan, Chief Spokesperson Ravinder Sharma, I/C HQ Ved Mahajan, Kanta Bhan, T. S. Tony, Narinder Sharma, Satish Sharma, and several other senior leaders participated in the demonstration.
Speaking during the protest, Tara Chand strongly condemned the terror attacks and expressed deep grief over the loss of security personnel. He criticized the central government for its failure to maintain peace in the region and called for immediate action to prevent further incidents.
“The people of Jammu and Kashmir have suffered enough. We demand full statehood with constitutional guarantees to ensure our rights and dignity. The current administration has failed to provide security to its people, and this is unacceptable,” he said. He further emphasized that the people of J&K deserve development, employment opportunities, and a peaceful environment, not fear and uncertainty.
“The restoration of statehood is the first step towards rebuilding trust and ensuring democratic rights for our citizens,” he asserted.
Raman Bhalla, Working President of JKPCC, highlighted the deteriorating security situation and held the central government accountable for the increasing terror activities in J&K.
“The BJP government has failed to control terrorism. The people of Jammu and Kashmir are living in fear due to the rise in terror incidents. We will not remain silent while our brave soldiers are being martyred. Under this government, the condition of J&K has become deplorable. Civilians and security personnel are bearing the brunt of these terror attacks, while the government remains inactive.”
“The restoration of statehood is our fundamental right, and we will continue our struggle until it is achieved,” he asserted.
