Restrictions being imposed in Mirgund, Mirchimar areas: DM Baramulla

Srinagar: The District Magistrate Baramulla has imposed restrictions under Section 163 BNSS in Mirgund, Mirchimar, and adjoining areas of Tehsil Singhpora to prevent any breach of law and order ahead of a religious procession scheduled on the 21st of Ramzan (March 22, 2025).

An order issued by the District Magistrate reads: whereas, SSP Baramulla vide his letter No: CS/ L&O/2025/4904-09 dated 20-03-2025 has reported that there is the apprehension of breach of law and order problem in Mirchimar, Mirgund and its adjoining areas of Tehsil Singhpora in view of the eruption of clashes between two factions of Shia community, who intend to take out procession in the area on 21st of Ramzan i.e on 22nd of March 2025;

Whereas, the SSP Baramulla in the report intimated that on the intervening night of 21 & 22nd March 2025, a religious event marking the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Ali (AS) is scheduled at Imambara Mirgund, which traditionally involves a procession carrying a replica of the coffin from Imambara Mirgund to Imambara Mirchimar, culminating in a ‘Namaz Janaza’ observance under the leadership of Moulvi Masroor Abbas Ansari of J&K Itihad-ul-Muslimeen.

Whereas, as per the report of SSP Baramulla, the Ministry of Home Affairs Gol, has recently banned the said organization as an unlawful organization, and as such there is a pressing need to prevent any activity(ies) linked to the said organization including the proposed procession, it reads.

Whereas the SSP Baramulla in the aforesaid communication, while citing circumstances, assessment of the ground situation, history of violent confrontation between the two factions and the recent escalation on 04-03-2025 in the area has recommended for the imposition of Section 163 BNSS in village Mirgund, Mirchimar and its adjoining areas of Tehsil Singhpora, District Baramulla on 22nd March 2025 as a measure to prevent any law and order problem and to safeguard life and property in the area, othe rder reads.

Now, in order to maintain peace and tranquillity and to prevent any imminent danger to life and property, restrictions under section 163 BNSS, shall remain in force in village Mirgund, Mirchimar and its adjoining areas of Tehsil Singhpora including the restrictions as specified herein below from 8:00 PM on 21-03-2025 to 9:00 PM on 22-03-2025, it reads.

No assembly or congregation(s) of four or more persons shall be allowed in the above-said villages. No procession shall be allowed in the above-said village, it reads.

No person, other than a member of the armed force/police/Magistrate or a public servant duly authorized and on duty, shall carry in public firearms or an article capable of being used as a weapon of offence.

No person(s) shall use loudspeakers(s) or any other amplifying sound for making a speech or any announcement for any other purpose whether from a moving vehicle(s) or otherwise except with prior permission of District Magistrate, Baramulla, reads the order. (JKNS)
