Srinagar: Police in Anantnag have solved the case of a missing girl from Kokernag, leading to the arrest of the accused and the recovery of the victim’s body, a police spokesperson informed Wednesday.
He said on March 16, 2025, Police Station Kokernag received a missing report regarding a girl (name withheld), following which an investigation was initiated.
During the course of the investigation, technical evidence indicated that she may have been abducted by one Altaf Mir (31), son of Nissar Ahmad Mir, resident of Lawaypora, Srinagar.
A case was registered and the accused was brought in for questioning, during which he confessed to have abducted and subsequently murdered the victim Based on his disclosure, the victim’s body was recovered from his house in Lawaypora, Srinagar.
The body has been sent for postmortem and forensic examination to gather further evidence. Further legal proceedings are underway to ensure a thorough investigation, police said.
