Srinagar: The Directorate of Health Services Kashmir on Friday ordered a probe into alleged negligence at Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Chadoora after a video showing an animal inside the hospital went viral on social media.

In a handout to GNS, a spokesman for the Directorate of Health Services said that in response to a video circulating on social media on March 14, 2025, an inquiry has been ordered to investigate the alleged negligence at SDH Chadoora in Budgam district. The inquiry team will conduct an in-depth analysis of electronic records, CCTV footage, and duty rosters, as well as interview patients and staff members to ascertain the facts, fix responsibility for any errors of omission or commission, and recommend appropriate action to prevent such incidents in the future.

The spokesman further stated that the inquiry committee will also examine the possibility that the video was deliberately staged or edited to defame a busy government hospital, as some vested interests have previously attempted to do. Similar orchestrated or fake videos were uploaded on social media regarding SDH Bijbehara and CHC Pattan to mislead the public and patients. If any such malicious intent is found, the committee will recommend legal action against the perpetrators under relevant sections of the law.

The Directorate of Health Services Kashmir remains steadfast in its commitment to the highest standards of professionalism and will not tolerate any laxity at any level, the statement concluded. (GNS)
