Srinagar: Police in Kulgam have solved a theft case by arresting five accused persons.

Acting on a written complaint from one Mukhtar Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Rashid Bhat of Churat Qazigund, about the theft of his poplar trees dumped on roadside at Waltengo, Kund, police during investigation tracked down the stolen timber and recovered it subsequently, police said.

Police also apprehended five accused persons identified as Manzoor Ahmad Deeded, Mohammad Hanif Deeded, Maneer Ahmad Deeded, sons of Rajwali Deeded of Nigeenpora Nad; Rajesh Kumar, son of Parveen Kumar, resident of Hameerpora Himachal, and Basharat Ahmad Tenda, son of Mohammad Shafi Tenda of Waltengo Nad.

Investigation is going on to determine whether additional individuals were also involved in the theft, police said.
