2 persons convicted for causing public nuisance

Srinagar: The Court of Additional Special Mobile Magistrate Kralpora convicted two individuals for the offence under section 355 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and imposed community service as punishment on them.

The case pertains to an incident wherein two individuals were held in drunken state at Kralpora Market for causing inconvenience to the general public.

Upon completion of investigation, a chargesheet was filed before the court, where the accused pleaded guilty. The court convicted them and imposed community service as punishment — two days of cleaning a public place, such as a hospital; one day dedicated to raising awareness about the harmful effects of alcohol consumption, and one day of planting 20 trees on public/state land, facilitated by the concerned Tehsildar. The convicted individuals will complete their sentence under the supervision of SHO Police Station Kralpora.
