2 drug peddlers held in Anantnag

Srinagar: Police in Anantnag have arrested two drug peddlers during an area domination operation, a police spokesperson informed Wednesday.

He said a vehicle (JK02AV-1235) was intercepted near Pazalpora crossing and 1.75 kg of cannabis powder was recovered from it. Driver of the vehicle Tajdar Amin, a “known drug peddler”, son of Mohammad Amin Khan of Karewa Colony, Bijbehara, was apprehended along with one Bilal Ahmad Yatoo, son of Ghulam Hassan Yatoo, resident of Gund Nasir, Pazalpora.

The vehicle has been seized and a case registered under relevant sections of the NDPS Act at Police Station Bijbehara, for further investigation, police said.

Meanwhile another drug-peddler — Aamir Suhail Ganie, son of Mohammad Saidullah Ganie, resident of Reshipora Dialgam – was booked under Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (PIT NDPS) after obtaining detention orders from the competent authority. He was subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal, Jammu, police said.
