Srinagar: Police have arrested four drug peddlers in Srinagar and Budgam and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesperson informed Sunday.
He said at a checkpoint at Noorbagh Chowk, police intercepted a vehicle (JK01AD-2899) with three persons on board. Identified as Ahmad Bin Ishaq Kawa, son of Mohammad Ishaq of Nawakadal; Daniyal Ahmad Basati, son of Ajaz Ahmad of Palpora Noorbagh; and Taha Yasir, son of Yasir Ahmad Bhat of Aalikadal Srinagar, the trio was arrested after 184 grams of cannabis was recovered from their possession. The vehicle was also seized.
In Budgam, at a checkpoint established at Aripanthan, one Ishfaq Ahmad Ganie, son of Ghulam Mohammad Ganie of Saranhal Batpora Budgam, was arrested after three sticks of cannabis-like substance wrapped in corn husk, weighing about 61 grams was recovered from his possession.
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated, police said.
