Drug peddler held in Budgam

Srinagar: Police have arrested four drug peddlers in Kulgam and Budgam and recovered contraband substances from their possession, an official handout informed Monday.

It said at Upper Bazar Qazigund one Mudasir Ahmad Itoo, son-in-law of Manzoor Ahmad Itoo of Kurigam, was arrested after two kgs of poppy straw and six grams of brown sugar-like substance were recovered from his possession.

In Budgam, at Nadigam-Wadwan Crossing, one Bashir Ahmad Hajam, son of Noor Mohammad Hajam of Wadwan, was arrested after a semi-grinded cannabis-like substance weighing about 3.827 kilograms was recovered from his possession.

At Samsan Crossing, Mohammad Yousuf Beigh, son of Mohammad Ramzan Beigh of Gund Ali Naik, and Ishfaq Ahmad Dar, son of Mohammad Abdullah Dar of Kathwara Budgam, were arrested and seven sticks of cannabis-like substance wrapped in a corn husk weighing about 135 grams and semi-grinded cannabis-like substance weighing 850 grams were recovered from their possession.

Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations for investigations, police said.
