Srinagar: Police in Budgam have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession, an official handout informed Sunday.
It said at Kremshora, one Imtiyaz Ahmad Sofi, son of Mohammad Maqbool Sofi of Chodribagh Kremshora Khansahab was arrested after three sticks of cannabis-like substance wrapped in corn husk weighing about 69.28 grams was recovered from his possession.
During questioning, the accused person disclosed that he has procured the contraband substance from one person Mohammad Wahid Thoker, son of Mohammad Sadiq Thokar of Chodribagh Kremshora, who has concealed the additional contraband substances at his residential house.
Subsequently, police raided Thoker’s residence and recovered cannabis in powder form weighing about 550 grams. Thoker was also arrested.
A case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Khansahab for investigation, police said.
