“It is unfortunate that gang wars, murders and other criminal activities have increased in Jammu district. I urge Lieutenant Governor and DGP J&K Police to intervene in it, and act tough against elements involved in harming public order,” Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Singh Choudhary told reporters.

“The law enforcement agencies should play their role and tighten the noose around criminals,” he empahsised.

He said Jammu and Kashmir is a peace-loving region, however the ongoing gang wars, murders and trade of narcotics among youth is alarming, and urged police to play its role in curbing this nuisance.

Crime rate has reached to new heights in Jammu city which is very unfortunate and “I’m hoping that Lieutenant Governor and DGP will intervene and take criminals to task without any wait,” he said.

When asked why police have failed to act against identified criminals, the Deputy Chief Minister said the timely deliverance of justice has been badly hit due to “few incompetent officers”.
