Srinagar: Police have arrested four drug peddlers in Anantnag and Handwara and recovered contraband substance from their possession, an official handout informed Wednesday.
It said at Brad Aishmuqam, police arrested two drug peddlers — Farooq Ahmad Lone, son-in-law of Ghulam Rasool Itoo of Paith Nambal, at present Yall, and Zafar Ahmad Bhat, son of Mohammad Afzal Bhat of Khayar – after 7.2 kgs of cannabis husk and 256 grams of cannabis powder-like substance was recovered from their possession.
In Handwara, police intercepted a car (JK09D-5264) and recovered 8.30 grams of a heroin-like substance from the possession of two persons travelling in it, who were subsequently arrested. They were identified as Faisal Ahmad, son of Abdul Jabar Lone of Bramri, and Tahir Habib, son of Habibullah Dar of Jaggerpora, Kupwara.
Cases under relevant sections of the law have been registered in respective police stations for further investigations.
