MD KPDCL reviews power scenario in Pulwama, Shopian

SRINAGAR: MD KPDCL Mahmood Ahmad Shah conducted a review of the power scenario and progress on various projects in Pulwama and Shopian.

He also reviewed the buffer stock of repaired transformers and the implementation of centrally sponsored schemes like PM Surya Ghar.

While assessing the power situation, he emphasized maintaining a smooth power supply to both urban and rural areas & stressed on ensuring a stock of repaired transformers in view of the ensuing Ramadan. Officers were directed to swiftly restore power in case of weather-related damages and to replace transformers promptly.

MD also discussed the PM Surya Ghar scheme, which provides consumers with free electricity connections. A total of 1101 applications have been received, with 68 units installed so far. Shah instructed officers to complete installations by March 2025 and continue raising awareness to maximize benefits for consumers.

He also inspected key infrastructure, including the 250 MVA Grid Station in Shopian and several receiving stations and feeders. He reviewed ongoing RDSS distribution works, especially for LTAB cabling, which would enable the installation of smart meters and ensure a more reliable power supply.

Finally, the MD emphasized the importance of following all safety protocols for workers and co-workers during these projects.
