Baramulla’s Taekwondo Prodigy Nabeel Irshad Wani clinches Bronze at International Championship

Baramulla: Nabeel Irshad Wani, a young taekwondo prodigy from Baramulla, has made the nation proud by securing a bronze medal at the prestigious International Taekwondo Championship G2 WT in Fujairah, UAE. Competing in the -57 kg category (under-12 boys), Nabeel etched his name in history as the first Indian to win a medal in this category at the championship.

A student of Aarifeen School of Excellence in Delina, Baramulla, Nabeel showcased exceptional talent and determination throughout the competition. He began his campaign with a stellar performance against his opponent from Uzbekistan, securing victories in the first two rounds with scores of 6-5 and 11-5. However, his journey to the gold medal was halted by a tough match against a competitor from the UAE, where he narrowly lost with scores of 4-6 and 10-14 in the respective rounds

Nabeel’s achievement is a testament to his hard work and dedication. He has previously dominated domestic and national-level taekwondo events, earning numerous accolades for his district and state. His success is also a reflection of the guidance and training provided by his coach, Ajaz Rasool Mir, an internationally recognized taekwondo coach and player

This historic win not only highlights Nabeel’s potential as a future star in the sport but also brings pride to Baramulla and the entire nation. His journey serves as an inspiration to young athletes across India, proving that with perseverance and skill, dreams can indeed become reality.
