During this meeting the Chief Secretary observed that the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) had been envisaged to bring drinking water to all the rural households. He remarked that assets worth thousands of crores had been created under this CSS to provide adequate drinking water to the village population.

Dulloo further pointed out that it is essential to measure the objectives set under this scheme besides monitoring the quality of services offered to our people. He made out that there is no better way to meet these ends than using IT and other modern tools like AI and IoT which are mostly error free and efficient to a larger extent.

He reiterated that nearly 19 lakh households are going to be provided drinking water after the culmination of this scheme and monitoring of quality of service and functionality of the schemes is paramount to ensure regular and adequate water supply to the consumers.

He advised the Department to first employ such a system on pilot basis in one of the districts here in order to know about its efficacy. He made out that it would enhance the capacity of the Department and would make it a model to replicate in other areas of the UT.

He elucidated that the quality, quantity, timing, duration, and pressure of the water are few of the indicators that need to be watched daily. He suggested that this system should be integrated with a dashboard that would provide information about each scheme on real time basis.

The ACS, Jal Shakti Department, Shaleen Kabra gave a detailed outlook of the system the Department is contemplating to install. He also provided deep analysis of the outcomes to be obtained after its installation.

He further detailed out that this would make the operation and maintenance of these schemes smooth besides carrying out repairs time-bound. He revealed that this would also better the quality of services and water supply to the consumers.

The devices that were said to bring efficiency included installation of pressure sensors, quality sensors and flow meters to bring in overall efficiency in water supply when integrated with a software and command centre to monitor the same round the clock.
