Srinagar: A two-day seminar on “Scientific Beekeeping” being organised by Agriculture Production and Farmer’s Welfare Department Kashmir was inaugurated by Director Agriculture Kashmir Mohammad Ilyas Khateeb today at Kashmir Haat Srinagar.
The National Bee Board sponsors the two-day seminar Under the National Bee Keeping and Honey Mission (NBHM). The seminar was attended by Beekeepers, Farmers, Stakeholders, Students and Unemployed youth.
While addressing the event Dir said that the program is aimed to promote the latest trends and technologies in the field of apiculture besides financial assistance schemes for farmers.
He highlighted the significance of beekeeping in enhancing the farm productivity and sustenance of rural livelihoods.
On the occasion, farmers were informed about financial incentives, including an 80% subsidy on beekeeping units, aimed at bolstering the sector in the region.
The program will continue tomorrow with training sessions on colony management, honey harvesting and disease prevention techniques for the participants.
Deputy Director Agriculture Central Waheed-U- Rehmaan, Chief Agriculture Officer Srinagar Manohar lal Sharma and other officers were also present in the programme.
