3 drug peddlers held

Srinagar: Police have arrested three drug peddlers in Kulgam and Awantipora and recovered contraband substance from their possession, an official handout informed Thursday.

At Kokergund Crossing, Humshalibugh, one Faizan Ahmad Dar, son of Nafeez Ahmad Dar of Brazloo Jagir was arrested and 2.087 grams of heroin-like contraband substance recovered from his possession.

In Awantipora, near Chersoo Crossing police intercepted a load-carrier (JK13H- 8415) with two persons onboard. During its search, 1.2 kgs of grinded cannabis-like substance was recovered from it following which vehicle was seized and two persons — Arshid Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Nabi Dar, and Shakir Ahmad Ganie, son of Fayaz Ahmad Ganie, from Gulshanabad Rajpora Pulwama, travelling in it were arrested.

Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations for further investigations, police said.
