Tanvir Sadiq to represent J&K at South Asia City-Led Prevention, Response Conference in Colombo

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Chief Spokesperson and MLA Zadibal Tanvir Sadiq, will attend the Global Crises, Local Impact: City-Led Prevention and Response in South Asia conference scheduled to be held from January 22-25, 2025, in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The high-profile conference, hosted by the Strong Cities Network, will bring together city leaders, policymakers, and local government representatives from across South Asia to discuss city-driven approaches to addressing hate, extremism, social cohesion, and community well-being in multicultural urban settings.

During the two-day event, Tanvir Sadiq will participate in key discussions on pressing issues such as urban migration, social cohesion, hate speech prevention, and city resilience strategies. The conference will provide practical insights on how cities can address tensions, foster community trust, and ensure public safety amid growing challenges such as political instability, migration pressures, and rising extremism.

Tanvir Sadiq will engage with regional leaders to explore strategies for addressing demographic changes and social cohesion in multicultural cities, Combating hate speech through community engagement and inclusive governance and Developing urban planning policies to promote resilience and reduce inter-community tensions.

Speaking ahead of his participation, Sadiq said, “The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote social cohesion, public safety, and inclusive growth across Jammu and Kashmir.”
