JAMMU: Speaker, J&K Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather, today participated and addressed the 85th All India Presiding Officers Conference 2025 at Patna, Bihar.

The conference, inaugurated by Lok Sabha speaker, Om Birla, was held on the theme ‘75th Anniversary of Constitution: Contribution of Parliament and State legislative bodies in strengthening constitutional values’.

Addressing the conference, Abdul Rahim Rather highlighted that the Constitution not only serves as a substantive tool to set up the system of governance, rather it is a roadmap to restore our glory. “Our Constitution is fully committed towards welfare of the citizens which is progressive, inclusive and transformative,” maintained the Speaker.

He added that the 75th anniversary of our Constitution is an opportune moment to reflect on our achievements, acknowledge our shortcomings and reaffirm our commitment to uphold the values that have shaped our nation.

The Speaker said that the Parliament at the Central level and the state legislatures at the state level contributed significantly to strengthening the constitutional values in this journey of 75 years. He also appreciated the role of the Supreme Court as the custodian and interpreter of the Constitution.

The Speaker, in his address, also outlined various steps taken by the Government of Jammu and Kashmir from time to time besides highlighting Legislations introduced for wthe elfare of the people of J&K.

Secretary, J&K Legislative Assembly, Manoj Kumar Pandita also accompanied the Speaker at the conference.
