Jammu: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday requested the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation to add his name to the organ donors’ list.
Sinha made the request during a programme organised by the Bharatiya Jain Sangathan, Jammu and Kashmir, under the aegis of SS Jain Sabha, Jammu and Kashmir, to promote organ donation, an official press release informed.
“I request the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (SOTTO) to add my name in the donors’ list. Organ donation should be a life motto. This selfless act not only affects the recipients but also touches the lives of families and friends of those seeking transplantation,” Sinha said.
Sinha also expressed his gratitude to voluntary organ donors and urged people to come forward and join the noble cause of organ and tissue donation.
“For donors, organ donation provides a life-giving opportunity. Let us all join the efforts and make our valuable contribution to society through organ and tissue donation,” the lieutenant governor said.
Lauding the Bharatiya Jain Sangathan for its great service by inspiring people for organ donation, Sinha reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting social organisations and volunteers associated with the cause.
He called for collective efforts to make organ transplant affordable and accessible by using modern technology in government and private hospitals.
Sinha also emphasised that permanent help desks related to organ donation and transplant should be set up in hospitals to provide information and counter myths surrounding organ donation.
“Organ and tissue donation camps should also be organised in hospitals in collaboration with all stakeholders to inform and encourage people,” he said.
On the occasion, the LG asked the youth to imbibe the ideals and teachings of Lord Mahavir and dedicate themselves to the service of humanity.
Lord Mahavir’s eternal message of ‘Samyak Darshan’ – Right Faith, ‘Samyak Gyan’ – Right Knowledge and ‘Samyak Charitra’ – Right Conduct, will continue to guide us on the path of non-violence, truth and compassion, he said.
The LG congratulated the Bharatiya Jain Sangathan (BJS) on the beginning of its community connect program ‘BJS Moksh Path’ aimed at promoting organ donation amongst community leaders and debunking the myths around organ donation.
Anand Jain, ADGP Jammu; Sandeep Jain, president, Bharatiya Jain Sangathan, J&K; Monika Jain, general secretary, Bharatiya Jain Sangathan, J&K; senior officials of civil and police administration; members of Bharatiya Jain Sangathan, SS Jain Sabha and various social organizations were present.
LG interacts with youth participating in BAYEP
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today interacted with the youth from Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, who are on a five-day visit to Jammu under Border Area Youth Exchange Programme (BAYEP), under the aegis of NYKS-MY Bharat, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.
During the interaction, the participating youth shared experiences about their visit to the border areas of Jammu region, an official press release informed.
It said extending his best wishes for their future endeavours, the LG called upon the youth to play an active role in socio-economic progress and contribute towards realizing the vision of Viksit Bharat.
The LG also reiterated the commitment of the government for Border Infrastructure development and welfare of the border area dwellers.
Nisar Ahmad Bhat, Director, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) J&K and Ladakh, officials and volunteers of NYKS were also present on the occasion at Raj Bhawan.
