Srinagar: Police have arrested six drug peddlers across Kashmir valley and recovered contraband substances from their possession, an official handout informed Friday.
It said near Ganjiwada in Anantnag, 400 grams of cannabis was recovered from the possession of one Zakir Ahmad Zargar, son of GhulamRasool of Papibal Anantnag, who was arrested on the spot.
At Bonadialgam, 350 grams of cannabis was recovered from the possession of Aamir Hussain Malik, son of Abdul Hameed Malik of Pushwara Khanabal. He too was arrested.
In Baramulla, at Paranpeelan-Bandi Crossing Uri, one Mohammad Showkat Awan, son of Atta Mohammad of Dawaran, was arrested and 1.7 kgs of cannabis powder-like substance was recovered from his possession.
In Charangam village of Budgam, one Waheed Ahmad Magray, son of Nazir Ahmad Magray was arrested after six sticks of cannabis-like substance wrapped in corn husk weighing 76 grams was recovered from his possession. Besides, a mobile phone with sim card was also recovered from his possession.
In Awantipora, two drug peddlers — Muzaffer Ahmad Dar, son of Mohammad Sadiq Dar of Bonpora Lethpora, and Riyaz Ahmad Mir, son of Abdul Gaffar Mir of Chati Mohalla Khunmoh – were arrested after 12.2 kgs of brown sugar-like substance was recovered from their possession.
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations for further investigations, police said.
