Tangmarg: Two minor siblings lost their lives in a devastating fire that engulfed a residential shed in Ferozpora village of Tangmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday.
Locals said that the blaze consumed the residential shed belonging to Mohammad Ashraf Dar, son of Ghulam Nabi Dar, Thursday afternoon.
The tragedy unfolded while the mother of the children had gone out to buy groceries. When she returned, she found the shed engulfed in flames. Despite frantic rescue efforts by neighbors, the children — four-year-old Mina Ashraf and her three-month-old brother, Muntazir Ashraf — couldn’t be saved, locals said.
Police authorities arrived promptly to investigate the cause of fire, but no immediate conclusions were drawn.
“This is an unimaginable tragedy. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family,” Gulmarg MLA, Farooq Ahmad Shah said. He called on the district administration to provide immediate ex-gratia relief to the affected family and ensure their proper rehabilitation.
