Srinagar: Police have arrested six drug peddlers across Kashmir valley and recovered contraband substances from their possession, police said in an official handout.
It said in Srinagar, near JVC Hospital Bemina, one Javid Ahmad Lone, son of Bashir Ahmad Lone of Khargam Pattan, at present Mansoor Colony Bemina, was arrested and 44 grams of cannabis-like substance was recovered from his possession.
On Pahroo Kenihama axis one Reyaz Ahmed Shah, son of Gulzar Ahmed Shah of Check-e-Pahroo was arrested and 39 kgs of cannabis powder concealed in two nylon bags were recovered from his possession.
In Ganderbal, at Harran crossing one Zafar Bashir Bhat, son of Bashir Ahmad Bhat, resident of Gundirehman was arrested after frisking of his vehicle (JK03H-2841) yielded 40 strips of SpasmoProxyvon-Plus (320 tablets). The vehicle was also seized.
In Baramulla, at Janbazpora, one Mubashir Ahmad Bhat, son of Ghulam Mohammad of Nowpora Jageer Kreeri was arrested and 121 grams of cannabis-like substance was recovered from his possession.
At Laghama-Garkote crossing, one Mohammad Rafiq Awan, son of Mohammad Abdullah of Garkote, was arrested and 4.2 kgs of cannabis powder-like substance was recovered from his possession.
In Handwara, at Kuhroo Bridge, 55 grams of cannabis-like substance was recovered from the possession of Hilal Ahmad Tantray, son of Mohammad Yousuf Tantray of Takiya Langate, who was arrested on the spot.
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations for further investigations, police said.
