Srinagar: Police in Srinagar have arrested three persons for their alleged complicity in extortion and physical assault, police informed in an official handout.

It said on December 23, 2024, one Ghulam Mohiuddin, son of Ghulam Hassan Sheikh of Firdousabad Batamaloo, approached Police Station Maisuma in injured condition and turned in a written complaint that on December 21-22, at around 0200 hours, while he was enroute to Budshah Chowk for sanitation work, he was wrongfully restrained by a group of assailants. The miscreants physically assaulted him and forcibly took some cash from his wallet before fleeing the scene, police said.

With the help of CCTV footage and other technical evidence, police arrested Ishfaq Ahmad Dar alias Ish Mut, son of Khursheed Ahmad Dar of Nishat Khaki Mohalla, Srinagar; Tahir Ahmad Mir alias 90, son of Sonaullah Mir of Bangladesh Colony Rainawari, at present Palpora Noorbagh and Arsalan Mushtaq Wandroo alias Karihul, son of Mushtaq Ahmad of Hasibath Rainawari, Srinagar, police said.
